Number of Plastic Bags handed falls by FOUR BILLION in 4 years !!

The number of plastic bags used by supermarket customers has fallen by more than 4.6 billion a year according to the British Retail Consortium. This is about 40% less than the number handed out in 2006, when 10.7 billion bags were handed out by Britain's supermarket giants.

However despite the drop, the number of bags still being used remains a major environmental problem and DEFRA is currently conducting a major review into Britain's waste crisis, which includes the plastic bag issue.

At Future Bags, we only offer reusable bags. Our large range of Eco Friendly Bags includes: Cotton Bags, Canvas Bags, Jute Bags or Tote Bags, Non-Woven PP Bags and Woven PP Bags.

Eco Bags are a great way to promote your company too; they show the public your name and also that you care for the environment !

Jane Davidson, Minister for Environment, Sustainability and Housing wants to introduce a mandatory charge for plastic carrier bags in Wales. Wales will actually be the first part of the UK to lead the way on this issue.

Although we have become much better at reusing bags over the last few years, similar actions have been taken taken against single-use carrier bags all over the world. And close to home the Republic of Ireland has proved how successfulm a charge can be and has seen the number of carrier bags used drop by 90% since introducing their charge in 2002.

Jane says that she hopes it will encourage everyone to shop with reusable bags wherever possible.

Looking for a supplier? At Future Bags, we offer a large range Eco-Friendly Bags : Cotton Bags, Canvas Bags, Jute Bags, Tote Bags, Non-Woven PP Bags and Woven PP Bags. All our bags are reusable and recyclable.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle is the hierarchy of environmental action as it is typically defined today. Reducing the amount of packaging, and by doing so, reducing waste and CO2 emissions. This is THE top priority for almost all national governments in the EU. However at the moment it is more a question of reusing and recycling as much as possible.

A lot has happened in the UK, especially in the past year. Companies have had a huge focus on the environmental debate as they have each set goals for HOW they can reduce their environmental impact.

Well that's why at Future Bags, we offer a full range of the highest quality recycled, recyclable, re-useable and biodegradable bags. Our range of eco-friendly bags include Cotton Bag, Canvas Bags, Jute Bags, Woven pp Bags and Non-Woven pp Bags.

A new survey criticises British Supermarket chains and their usage of Plastic Carrier Bags. According to consumer group Which?, the research showed that supermarket giants are not applying their own Green Policies when it comes to Plastic Bags.

Tesco has been claiming the fact that they use degradable bags and have taken steps towards becoming more Eco-Friendly. However a new government study found that degradable bags are actually more harmful to the environment than their regular counterparts!

So what can we do to protect our environment? Well the answer is simple : Reusable and Eco Friendly Bags

The City of London could become Britain's first plastic bag free city, under plans published today by Boris Johnson Mayor of London, to reduce litter and landfill waste.

Mr Johnson will explore measures for reducing plastic carrier bag consumption which include charging schemes. Shoppers will therefore be encourage to bring their own reusable bags and supermarkets may be forced to charge for single use bags.
