Here our aim is to get more of the public to use and reuse Eco-Friendly promotional & retail bags.
According to data which was released in 2001 by the United States Environmental Protection Agency on U.S plastic bag, sack and wrap consumption, it is estimated that between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed on a wroldwide scale, each year!
Of those billions, millions end up in litter streams outside of landfills or trailing through lands and oceans alike.
Such bags have become such a problem that Taiwan, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh and Ireland have heavily taxed these bags or banned them outright. According to Tony Lowes - Director of Friends of the Irish Environment in County Cork said that since 15 cents (about 20 cents U.S) tax on these bags has been introduced (since March 2002) there has been a 95% reduction in use!
How amazing is that!
